Drakon's Past

Title: Drakon's Past (Blood of the Drakon Book 4)
Author: N.J. Walters
Year First Published: 2018
Page Count: 306
Synopsis:

Constance Owens has a gift for finding unique items in the most unlikely places, which comes in handy since she buys and sells artifacts and antiques for a living. When she purchases a set of four dragon statues, she has no idea just how unique they are, or that finding them will thrust her into a world of secret societies, men who think nothing of kidnapping and murder to get what they want, and dragon shifters.

Nic hasn't survived for four thousand years by letting his guard down, and he doesn't trust anyone except his drakon brothers. The loneliness haunting him has been getting worse since all his brothers have found their mates. When he finds the woman his drakon recognizes instantly as his fated mate, he doubts he'll ever have what his brothers have, because it seems she's involved with the secret society of hunters who have been stalking and trapping his kind for hundreds of years.

The Blood of the Drakon series is best enjoyed in order.

Noetical
Profanity Violence Sexual Content
About 72 instances of profanity, but it mostly blended into the storyline without making any of the characters seem crude. Violence is described briefly, even when death is involved. Major characters face the threat of violence, but most is leveled against villians and minor characters. No rape or torture. About 12% of book is devoted to the description of sexual activity. Four explicit sex scenes; but all sex is vanilla M/F and relationship based, Nothing crude and no rape or abuse scenes.
Characterization Plot Overall Rating
Nic and Constance are believable and likable, but frustratingly stubborn at times. Constance is a strong and independant heroine. Nic wasn't quite as well rounded a character as his brothers from the first three novels. I wish Nic's character had resonated as much as his brothers. Excellent villain who has played a role in previous stories. Interesting plot with high stakes, some mystery and some surprises. Excellent addition to the overall series arc. I really like this series and this book adds new and exciting possibilities to upcoming books. I highly recommend the entire series to anyone with a love for stories about dragon shifters and the true mates they fall for.
HEA without cliffhanger.
