Why do you need my e-mail address? It's our way of keeping track of our members. We will not give out your e-mail address unless you have checked the box on the join page that gives us permission to do so.
Why do I have to be a member to take advantage of the entire site? When a member submits a book review, their pen name goes onto the review. That way you can track and search what books a specific member reviews.
What is the difference between a member and a trusted member?A member is someone who has joined and has begun to submit book reviews. All book reviews will need to be authorized before they are placed on our database. However, if someone has a proven track record of well done reviews without any changes, they will be given trusted member status and their reviews will automatically show up on the database.
Reviews:
Can I review a book?Absolutely. This website relies on our members to increase the number of reviews on our database. Each review you submit will need to be approved before it is added to the database, so don 't get worried when it doesn't show up immediately. Once a member has submitted a sufficient number of reviews that we approve without changes, they will be moved up to a trusted member status and their reviews will be automatically added to the database without having to be approved first.
How do I review a book?Using either quick search or advanced search, find the book you want to review. If the book is at the top with our icon by it, that means the book has already been reviewed, but you may add an additional review. If the book is not at the top, it has not been reviewed yet. Simply click on the picture of the cover of the book and it will take you to the information provided by Amazon.com. Simply click on [submit my own review] and it will take you through the review process.
Why can I click on a ½, 1½ etc. when I rate or review a book, when those ½'s don't show up on the actual rating or review system? No matter how many separate divisions were made in the rating and review systems, many times we felt that the rating needed to be somewhere between those two definitions. So for convenience sake, we stayed with just 4 divisions with the possibility of choosing 7 different options.
How much information do I need to do a book review? The more information you submit on a book review, the more helpful it will be to others, however, you may provide as little or as much information as you choose. The most helpful reviews will more likely be voted as a favorite review by the community.
I found an error or would like to provide additional information on a review. Can I change the review?Yes, you may submit the changes you feel should be made. They will still go through a review process before being put onto the database. However, if you want to make a change on the author page or a series page, those changes will automatically show up.
Search:
When I do a QUICK SEARCH where does the data come from?We have a partnership with Amazon.com and so the first information you pull up when doing a quick search will be from their database. If you do advanced searches, those will contain the books on our database.
Authors:
How do I add information to an author page?Simply click on the icon next to the author's name. This will take you to the author page and you may make additions or corrections there. The author page is open to our members and does not go through an authorization process. Hopefully, the collected community will keep all the information as accurate as possible.
