When did you realize that it was not a true story?

The preface and the beginning of the book make the story seem like it is based on a true story. At what point did you realize that it was not real? Did you know it was not real from the beginning? |

I didn't realize until after I finished the book, though I suspected it when Patel was on the poisonous island. However, it wasn't until I recommended it to someone else that I realized it. :) |
